Membership fees
The Icelandic Association of Physiotherapists is a professional association and a trade union, and membership fees are divided by department. The professional department fee (22,000 kr) is paid by online banking in two payments per year (March and September), while the wage department fee (trade union membership) is paid monthly (1.1% of salary). Employers pay the fee on behalf of employees, while self-employed physiotherapists pay it themselves and use the calculated remuneration as a salary benchmark (see instructions below).
Please note that if it is only a professional faculty membership, the membership fee is 25,000 ISK per year.
Grants and funds
Members who pay to the compensation department of the Icelandic Association of Physiotherapists have the right to pay into the BHM fund and enjoy what they have to offer. The mandatory participation of employers in fund payments depends on the applicable collective agreements. Self-employed individuals must choose which fund they pay into.
We encourage members to familiarize themselves with their rights and funding opportunities here. For further information, please contact sjukrathjalfun@sjukrathjalfun.is or sjodir@bhm.is.
Membership in BHM
By joining the Icelandic Association of Physiotherapists, members also gain access to educational materials and events organized by the Icelandic Association of Physiotherapists (BHM). These include seminars, open meetings, courses and lectures for BHM members and member associations free of charge.
The Association of Physiotherapists' rules of procedure regarding membership can be accessed here, and we encourage everyone to familiarize themselves with them if questions arise about the form and arrangement of membership.
