    Day 1: Systematic Neurological Examination, Measurement Methods, Goal Setting, and the Latest Evidence in Stroke Rehabilitation


    This course focuses on systematic neurological examination, relevant measurement methods, goal setting, and the most recent evidence for the treatment of stroke patients.


    Emphasis will be placed on how to establish a structured approach to neurological examination and select the most effective treatment for the patient based on the latest evidence. Participants will gain knowledge of brain anatomy and its clinical significance, neurological assessment methods, and neuroplasticity principles in rehabilitation.


    The course further addresses the selection of relevant measurement methods, including the rationale for testing and which assessments are most appropriate. A brief introduction will also be given to commonly used ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs) for drop foot, including their early application in rehabilitation. In addition, the importance of goal setting in neurorehabilitation will be highlighted.


    Day 2: Electrical Stimulation in Neurological Rehabilitation (with primary focus on stroke, incomplete spinal cord injury, and multiple sclerosis patients)


    Participants will be introduced to the theoretical background of Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) and the scientific evidence supporting its use. The course will cover training principles, types of electrical stimulation, and appropriate patient groups.


    Further topics include:


    Functional use of NMES (FES) for stroke, incomplete spinal cord injury, and multiple sclerosis patients.


    NMES in relation to muscle overactivity/spasticity.


    TENS for neuropathic pain.


    Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) for drop foot: available products on the market and their distinguishing features

    Holds a Master’s degree in Neurorehabilitation from the University of Copenhagen.


    Involved in the development of various technological training devices.


    Frequently engaged as a course instructor and lecturer.

    Day 1 – From Foundations to Clinical Precision


    Short review of key accessory techniques around the temporomandibular region in both intra-articular and myogenic TMD dysfunctions.

    Orofacial motor control: from assessment to dysfunction detection and targeted retraining.

    In-depth exploration of red flags in orofacial pathology which is essential for differential diagnosis within the head-neck region in physiotherapy.

    Update in bruxism – interpretation, clinical relevance, and physiotherapeutic management based on the latest evidence.


    Day 2 – From Pain Experience  to Sensory Distortion


    Clinical patterns of maxillofacial dysfunctions with special focus on somatosensory tinnitus and (pseudo)sinusitis.

    Clinical classification of cranial neuropathic pain, including atypical facial pain, post-facial palsy pain, and trigeminal neuralgia.
